Printer Printing Symbols or Unreadable Characters
Printer Printing Symbols or Unreadable Characters
Overview
If your printer prints symbols, strange characters, or unreadable text instead of the correct order details, it may be because no print template has been selected or linked to the printer.
To ensure orders print correctly, you must select and link at least one appropriate print template in the Web Admin.
Why Is My Printer Printing Symbols?
When a printer is connected but no print template is configured, the system may not have the required formatting settings to generate a properly formatted printout.
As a result, the printer may print symbols or unreadable characters instead of the expected order information.
How to Fix the Issue
Step 1: Open Printer Settings
- Log in to the Web Admin.
- Navigate to Settings → Printers & Tickets.
Step 2: Select a Print Template
- Locate the printer you want to configure.
- Select an appropriate print template from the available options.
- Make sure the template is linked to the correct printer.
Step 3: Save Your Settings
Save your changes after selecting and linking the template.
Step 4: Test Your Printer
Place a test order or print an order to verify that the printer displays the order information correctly.
Check that the text, item names, prices, and other configured details are readable.
Important Note
Connecting a printer alone may not be enough to ensure correct printing. Always select and link at least one appropriate print template before printing orders.
If the printer continues to print symbols or unreadable characters after the template has been configured, review your printer settings and connection. If the issue persists, contact support for further assistance.
