How to Manage Printer Templates and Customize Receipts
How to Manage Printer Templates and Customize Receipts
Overview
Printer templates control the information printed on customer receipts, kitchen tickets, bar tickets, and driver slips. Restaurant owners can customize the printed content, choose paper width and font size, configure category-wise printing, and manage which sections appear on each document.
These settings are available in the Web Admin. The physical printer must be connected through the restaurant's order-taking mobile application before it can print.
How to Access Printer Templates

- Log in to the Web Admin.
- Navigate to Settings → Printers & Templates.
- Select the Templates tab.
- Choose an existing template to edit, or click Add template to create a new one.
Understanding Template Types

The system provides the following template types:
- Customer Receipt: A receipt for the customer, including order and payment details.
- Kitchen Ticket: Order items and preparation instructions for kitchen staff.
- Bar Ticket: Information required for preparing drinks and bar orders.
- Driver Slip: Delivery and order information required by the driver.
Choose the template type that matches the document's intended purpose.

- Click Add template.

- Enter a descriptive Template name.
- Select the required Type.

- Choose the Paper width:

- 58 mm
- 80 mm
- Select the Font size:

- Small
- Medium
- Large
- Enable or disable the Active option as required.
- Configure the other available printing options.
- Review the live preview.
- Click Save.
Inactive templates are hidden from printer selection options.
Configure Template Options
Group Items by Category
Enable this option to print items grouped under their category name. The category heading appears before the items belonging to that category.
This can help kitchen staff identify items by menu category.
Category-Wise Printing

Enable Category-wise printing to select which menu categories should appear on the template.
For example, you could configure a bar ticket to print only selected beverage categories or a kitchen ticket to print only selected food categories.
To configure it:
- Open the required template.
- Enable Category-wise printing.
- Open Categories to print.
- Search for or select the required categories.
- Review the live preview.
- Save your changes.
Customize the Printed Sections

The template editor contains sections that determine what information appears on the printed document.
Available sections are organized into groups, such as:
- Header: Restaurant branding and outlet information.
- Order Info: Order-related details.
- Items: Ordered products, quantities, and related item information.
- Totals & Payment: Applicable totals and payment details.
- Footer: Information printed at the end of the document.
Expand a section group to view its individual options. Use the available toggles to show or hide the relevant information.
The live preview updates as you change the template, helping you review the layout before saving.
Add a Custom Footer Note
You can configure a custom thank-you note for the printed document when this option is available.
- Open the required template.
- Locate Footer Note.
- Enable the option.
- Enter the message you want to print.
- Review the preview and save the template.
Add an Address Location QR Code
The template editor may provide an Address Location QR option for delivery orders with a pinned location.
When enabled, it prints a scannable QR code for the customer's delivery location, helping the driver navigate to the destination.
Enable this option only if it is useful for your delivery workflow.
Add Custom Text
Use Custom Text to print additional information, such as a GST/VAT number, licence information, or a restaurant-specific note.
To add custom text:
- Open the template editor.
- Locate Custom Text.
- Click Add custom text.
- Enter the required text.
- Select where the text should appear, such as under the restaurant header.
- Choose the available alignment option, such as left, center, or right.
- Add more text entries if required.
- Review the live preview and save your changes.

Check the final printed result to ensure the additional information is readable and correctly positioned.
How to Edit an Existing Template
- Navigate to Settings → Printers & Templates.
- Open the Templates tab.
- Find the template you want to update.
- Click its edit icon.
- Update the required settings or printed sections.
- Review the live preview.
- Click Save.
Important Notes
- Creating or editing a template does not connect a physical printer.
- The printer must be configured through the order-taking mobile application.
- A template must be assigned to a printer before that printer can print the corresponding document.
- Ensure the template's paper width matches the printer's paper size.
- If multiple printers use different paper widths, use appropriately configured templates.
- Always perform a physical test print after changing template settings.
Summary
Use Settings → Printers & Templates → Templates to create and manage receipt layouts, choose document types, configure paper width and font size, select menu categories, control visible sections, and add custom text. Review the live preview, save your changes, and test the physical printer before using the updated template for live orders.
