How to Connect Razorpay for Online Payments

How to Connect Razorpay for Online Payments

Overview

Razorpay allows restaurant owners to accept online payments through their storefront. You can connect Razorpay by entering the required API credentials and configuring how the payment method appears to customers.

Where to Find Razorpay Settings

  1. Log in to your restaurant dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Settings → Payments → Payment options.
  3. Under Online payments, click Manage gateways.
  4. Find Razorpay and click Connect.

Step 1: Get Your Razorpay API Credentials

  1. Log in to your Razorpay Dashboard.
  2. Open the account's API key settings.
  3. Generate or retrieve the appropriate API credentials.
  4. Copy the Key ID and Key Secret.

Razorpay credentials are associated with the account and environment for which they were generated. Use the appropriate credentials for testing or live payments.

Step 2: Configure Razorpay

In the Connect Razorpay window, configure the following fields.

Enable Razorpay

Use the toggle at the top of the window to enable or disable Razorpay as a payment gateway.

Enable this option if customers must accept your Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy before placing an order using Razorpay.

The relevant legal content pages must be activated before this option can be enabled.

Display Name

The Display Name (Shown to Customers) field controls how the payment method appears on your storefront.

  • Enter a custom display name if required.
  • Leave the field blank to use the provider's default name.

Key ID

Paste the Razorpay Key ID into the Key ID field.

Key Secret

Paste the corresponding Razorpay Key Secret into the Key secret field.

Keep the Key Secret confidential.

Webhook Secret

The Webhook secret field is used to verify webhook events.

To configure it:

  1. Open your Razorpay Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Account & Settings → Webhooks.
  3. Configure the webhook endpoint provided by your platform, following the platform's webhook setup instructions.
  4. Copy the webhook secret configured for that endpoint.
  5. Paste it into the Webhook secret field.

Use the webhook secret associated with the correct endpoint. Do not enter your API Key Secret in this field.

Step 3: Save the Configuration

  1. Review the credentials and settings.
  2. Confirm that the values are correct.
  3. Click Save.

Check the gateway status on the Payment Gateways page after saving.

Step 4: Test the Payment Method

  1. Open your restaurant storefront.
  2. Proceed to checkout with an appropriate test order.
  3. Confirm that Razorpay appears when the gateway is enabled.
  4. Test the payment flow using the appropriate test environment before accepting live payments.

Troubleshooting

If Razorpay does not work as expected:

  • Verify that the Key ID and Key Secret belong to the same Razorpay account and environment.
  • Confirm that the gateway is enabled.
  • Check that the webhook endpoint and webhook secret are configured correctly.
  • Save any corrected settings.
  • Contact platform support if the issue continues.

Never share your Key Secret or webhook secret in screenshots or support messages.

Important Notes

  • Test and live credentials are different.
  • The Key Secret and Webhook secret serve different purposes.
  • Keep all secret credentials private.
  • Enable the consent requirement only after activating the required legal content pages.

  • Key Secret entered securely.
  • Webhook secret configured if required.
