How to Configure Payment Consent Requirements

How to Configure Payment Consent Requirements

Overview

The payment consent setting allows restaurant owners to require customers to accept the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy before placing an order using a supported online payment gateway.

This setting is available in the configuration window for supported payment gateways.

Step 1: Open Payment Gateway Settings

  1. Log in to your restaurant dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Settings → Payments → Payment options.
  3. Under Online payments, click Manage gateways.
  4. Select the payment gateway you want to configure and click Connect.

If the gateway is already configured, open its settings to review the available options.

Before enabling payment consent, make sure your Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy content pages are activated.

  1. Open the website content or pages settings in your dashboard.
  2. Locate the Terms and Conditions page.
  3. Make sure the page is activated.
  4. Repeat for the Privacy Policy page.

The gateway configuration displays a notice when these pages need to be activated.

  1. Return to the payment gateway configuration window.
  2. Locate Require consent before payment.
  3. Turn on the toggle.
  4. Review the remaining gateway settings.
  5. Click Save.

When enabled, customers must accept the required Terms and Privacy Policy checkbox before placing an order when that gateway is selected.

Step 4: Verify the Checkout Experience

  1. Open your restaurant storefront.
  2. Add an item to the cart.
  3. Proceed to checkout.
  4. Select the configured payment gateway.
  5. Confirm that the consent checkbox appears.
  6. Verify that the customer is required to accept the terms before placing the order.

Troubleshooting

If you cannot enable the consent setting:

  • Check that the Terms and Conditions content page is activated.
  • Check that the Privacy Policy content page is activated.
  • Return to the gateway configuration and review the consent option again.

If the consent checkbox does not appear at checkout after saving, confirm that the setting is enabled and contact platform support if the issue continues.

Important Notes

  • The consent requirement is configured within the individual payment gateway settings.
  • Both required legal content pages must be activated before the option can be enabled.
  • Review your legal pages regularly to ensure they contain your current policies.

Quick Checklist

  • Terms and Conditions page activated.
  • Privacy Policy page activated.
  • Correct payment gateway selected.
  • Require consent before payment enabled.
  • Configuration saved.
  • Consent checkbox tested at checkout.
