How to Troubleshoot Catering Lead Time and Guest Limit Validation

How to Troubleshoot Catering Lead Time and Guest Limit Validation

Overview

Ressto allows restaurant owners to configure catering lead time, minimum guests, and maximum guests under the Catering settings.

If the catering storefront does not accept an expected event date or guest count, review these settings and verify that the configured values match your intended catering requirements.

Where to Find It

  1. Log in to your Ressto admin dashboard.
  2. Go to Settings → Catering.
  3. Open the General section.

1. Check the Catering Lead Time

The Lead time (days) field controls how far in advance catering enquiries should be submitted.

  1. Locate Lead time (days).
  2. Review the configured value.
  3. Confirm that it matches your restaurant's advance-booking requirements.
  4. Update the value if necessary.
  5. Click Save changes.
  6. Test the catering storefront using an event date that meets the configured lead time.

Example: If the lead time is set to 3 days, test with a date at least three days ahead.

2. Check the Minimum Guest Count

The Minimum guests field defines the minimum guest count for catering enquiries.

  1. Locate Minimum guests.
  2. Review the configured value.
  3. Confirm that it matches your catering policy.
  4. Correct the value if required.
  5. Click Save changes.
  6. Test the form using a guest count that meets the minimum.

Example: If the minimum is set to 10 guests, test with an enquiry for 10 or more guests.

3. Check the Maximum Guest Count

The Maximum guests field defines the upper guest limit when one is configured.

  1. Locate Maximum guests.
  2. Review the current value.
  3. Confirm that it matches your restaurant's capacity.
  4. Update it if necessary.
  5. Click Save changes.
  6. Test the form using a guest count within the configured limit.

The settings allow this field to be left blank if you do not want to set an upper limit.

4. Test the Settings After Saving

After reviewing the lead time and guest limits:

  1. Open the catering storefront.
  2. Enter an event date that meets the configured lead time.
  3. Test a guest count that meets the minimum.
  4. If a maximum is configured, test a guest count within that limit.
  5. Check whether the form accepts the values as expected.

5. Contact Ressto Support if Validation Still Fails

If the storefront still rejects a valid date or guest count:

  1. Capture a screenshot of the Catering General settings.
  2. Capture a screenshot of the validation message displayed on the storefront.
  3. Record the configured lead time and guest limits.
  4. Note the event date and guest count used during testing.
  5. Share these details with Ressto support for investigation.

Important Notes

  • Check the saved values before testing the storefront.
  • The minimum and maximum guest limits should match your intended catering policy.
  • A blank maximum guest field means no upper limit is configured in that field.
  • Do not assume the issue is resolved until the storefront accepts the expected values.
  • If the configuration appears correct but validation still fails, further technical investigation may be needed.

Quick Checklist

  • Reviewed the catering lead time.
  • Checked the minimum guest count.
  • Checked the maximum guest count or confirmed it is blank.
  • Saved the settings.
  • Tested the storefront with valid values.
  • Collected screenshots if further support is required.
