How to Manage Takeaway Service Settings

How to Manage Takeaway Service Settings

The Takeaway settings allow you to control how customers place pickup orders, including pickup hours, advance scheduling, minimum order value, preparation time, tips, and the terminology shown to customers.

Where to Find It

Go to:

Settings → Takeaway

You will find the following sections:

  • Pickup Hours
  • Scheduling
  • Time & Charges
  • Tips
  • Terminology

1. Pickup Hours

The Pickup Hours section allows you to set specific operating hours for takeaway/pickup orders.

Set Different Operating Hours for Pickup Service

Enable Set different operating hours for Pickup service if you want pickup orders to have different hours from your restaurant's regular business hours.

You can configure each day separately from Monday to Sunday.

For each day, you can:

  • Open or close pickup service
  • Enable 24 Hours
  • Set an opening time
  • Set a closing time
  • Add multiple time slots using + Add slot

Example

You can configure:

  • Lunch: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Dinner: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Important: Default Business Hours

If Set different operating hours for Pickup service is not enabled, the system will automatically use the default business hours configured in the Restaurant Profile when the business was created.

For example, if your business hours are 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM, pickup service will automatically follow those hours when separate pickup hours are not configured.

2. Scheduling

The Scheduling section controls how customers can place takeaway orders for a future time.

Schedule Advance Orders

Enable Schedule Advance Orders to allow customers to schedule takeaway orders in advance.

You can configure:

Minimum Time in Advance

Set the minimum amount of time required before a customer can schedule an order.

Example:

If you set 30 minutes, customers cannot schedule an order for a time less than 30 minutes from the current time.

Maximum Time in Advance

Set how far into the future customers can schedule an order.

Example:

If you set 7 days, customers can schedule an order up to 7 days in advance.

Time Gap Between Slots

This controls the spacing between available scheduling slots.

For example, with a 30-minute gap, customers may see:

  • 2:00 PM
  • 2:30 PM
  • 3:00 PM
  • 3:30 PM

First Order Offset

The First order offset (minutes) determines how long after the restaurant opens the first scheduled order slot becomes available.

Example:

If the restaurant opens at 5:00 PM and the offset is 15 minutes, the first available slot can start at 5:15 PM.

Show Slot as a Range

Enable this option if you want customers to see a time range instead of a single time.

Enabled:

10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Disabled:

10:00 AM

Allow Only Scheduled Orders

Enable Allow only scheduled orders if you want customers to select a future time slot and prevent immediate/ASAP takeaway orders.

When disabled, customers can continue to place immediate orders along with scheduled orders, depending on the other settings.

Max Orders Per Slot

This setting controls how many orders can be accepted during the same time slot.

Example:

If you set the limit to 5, a maximum of 5 orders can be accepted for that slot.

A value of 0 means there is no limit on orders per slot.

3. Time & Charges

The Time & Charges section allows you to configure takeaway-specific order requirements and preparation time.

Minimum Order Value

Set the minimum amount a customer must spend to place a takeaway order.

Example:

If you set the minimum order value to ₹199, customers must have an order value of at least ₹199.

Default Preparation Time

Set the standard preparation time required for takeaway orders.

Example:

If you enter 35 minutes, the system uses 35 minutes as the default preparation time for takeaway orders.

Important

These settings apply specifically to takeaway orders.

If a field is left blank, the system will fall back to the corresponding outlet default.
Click Save charges after making changes.

4. Tips

The Tips section allows you to configure suggested tip options that customers can select during checkout.

Customers can also enter a custom tip amount.

Add a Tip Preset

Enter a value in Add a preset and click + Add.

You can add up to 10 presets.

Tip Type

There are two options:

Percentage of Order

The tip is calculated as a percentage of the order value.

For example:

Order value: ₹1,000

Tip: 10%

Tip amount: ₹100

Fixed Amount

The tip is a fixed monetary amount.

For example:

  • ₹50
  • ₹100
  • ₹200

If the customer selects ₹100, the tip will be ₹100 regardless of the order value.

Current Presets

The Current presets section displays the tip options you have added.

You can:

  • View the configured presets
  • Set one preset as the default
  • Remove a preset using the X button

Default Tip

Use the Default toggle to automatically preselect a tip option for customers at checkout.

If no preset is selected as default, no tip will be preselected.

Custom Tip

Customers can also enter their own custom tip amount instead of selecting one of the suggested presets.

Important: The current presets work according to the selected Tip type. If you switch between Percentage of order and Fixed Amount, the presets are interpreted according to the selected type.

Click Save changes after updating your tip settings.

5. Terminology

The Terminology section allows you to customize the name used for the takeaway service.

Customize the Takeaway Name

Enter your preferred name in the Takeaway field.

For example, you can use:

  • Pickup
  • Collection
  • Takeout

This allows you to use terminology that better matches your restaurant.

Leave the Field Blank

If you leave the field blank, the system will use the default name:

Takeaway

Leaving this field blank does not disable the takeaway service. It only means the default terminology will be used.

Click Save after making changes.
