How to Set Up and Manage a Custom Domain

How to Set Up and Manage a Custom Domain

Overview

The Custom Domain settings allow restaurant owners to connect their own domain to their online presence. A domain can serve either the restaurant's Storefront or its Sales website.

Only one custom domain can be configured per restaurant at a time. After submitting a domain for verification, the platform team reviews the request and updates its status. SSL/HTTPS is configured automatically after the domain is approved.

Where to Find It

  1. Log in to your restaurant dashboard.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Select Domain.

The Custom Domain page will open.

Step 1: Choose the Domain Purpose

Under What should this domain serve?, select one of the following:

  • Storefront: Use the domain for your restaurant's ordering storefront.
  • Sales website: Use the domain for your sales website.

Only one purpose can be selected at a time for the domain. Choose the intended purpose before proceeding.

Step 2: Enter Your Domain

  1. Enter your domain in the input field.
  2. You can enter a root domain, such as example.com, or a subdomain, such as order.example.com.
  3. Check the spelling and domain format.
  4. Click Proceed.

The dashboard will display the DNS records required for your domain.

Important: Only one custom domain can be configured per restaurant at a time.

Step 3: Configure the DNS Records

After clicking Proceed, review the DNS instructions displayed on the page.

For example, the screenshot shows these A records for a root domain:

Type

Host / Name

Value (Points to)

A

@

35.230.138.43

A

www

35.230.138.43

These values are examples only. Always use the exact DNS records displayed for your own domain in the dashboard.

To add the records:

  1. Log in to your domain provider's account.
  2. Open the DNS management settings for your domain.
  3. Add the required records shown in the dashboard.
  4. Save the DNS changes.

The same general DNS configuration process applies to root domains and subdomains. Follow the specific record instructions displayed for the domain you are connecting.

Step 4: Submit the Domain for Verification

After configuring the DNS records:

  1. Return to Settings → Domain in your restaurant dashboard.
  2. Review the displayed DNS records.
  3. Click Submit for verification.

The request will be sent to the platform team for review.

Submitting a domain does not mean it has been approved yet.

Step 5: Track the Domain Status

The Custom Domain page displays the current status of the request.

Possible statuses include:

  • Pending: The request is awaiting review or further action.
  • In progress: The request is being processed.
  • Approved: The domain request has been approved.
  • Rejected: The domain request has been rejected.

The dashboard indicates that review usually takes 24–48 hours. Keep the required DNS records in place while the request is under review.

Step 6: Understand Domain Approval and HTTPS

After the platform team approves the domain, SSL/HTTPS is configured automatically.

You do not need to perform a separate manual SSL setup according to the confirmed domain process.

If the domain is still pending or in progress, wait for the review outcome and check the status displayed in your dashboard.

Step 7: Manage a Rejected Domain Request

If your domain request is rejected:

  1. Open Settings → Domain.
  2. Review the current domain status.
  3. Click Remove to remove the rejected domain request.
  4. Add the domain again using the Custom Domain form.
  5. Select the correct purpose and click Proceed.
  6. Follow the DNS instructions displayed for the domain.
  7. Submit the request for verification again.

Before resubmitting, check that the domain and DNS records are correct.

Important Notes
