How to Add Inventory for Menu Items

The Inventory feature helps you track the quantity of ingredients or materials used by your menu items.

When a customer places an order, the inventory is automatically reduced based on the quantity used.

Note: Inventory is available only on the Growth and Scale plans.

Step 1: Enable Inventory

Before using Inventory, you need to enable the feature.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Integrations.
  3. Select Inventory.
  4. Enable the Inventory feature.

Once enabled, go to Menu → Inventory to manage your ingredients and stock.

Step 2: Add an Ingredient

  1. Go to Menu → Inventory.

  2. Click + Add.

  3. Enter the ingredient details:
    • Name — Name of the ingredient or material.
    • In Stock — Current available quantity.
    • Low-stock alert — Quantity at which you want to be notified that stock is running low.

Example:

Name: Dimsum
In Stock: 300 pcs
Low-stock alert: 50 pcs

Step 3: Connect the Ingredient to a Menu Item

Under Which items & sizes use this ingredient, select the menu item that uses the ingredient.

Then enter how much of the ingredient is used for one sale.

Example:

  • Stock: 300 Dimsum
  • Menu item: Vegetable Dumplings
  • Used per order: 2 Dimsum

When a customer orders 1 Vegetable Dumplings:

300 → 298

The inventory is automatically reduced.

Step 4: Set Quantity by Size

If an ingredient is used in different quantities depending on the item size, you can set the quantity per size.

Example:

  • Small → 1 unit
  • Medium → 2 units
  • Large → 3 units

The system will automatically deduct the correct quantity based on the size ordered.

Step 5: Low-Stock Alert

Set a Low-stock alert to know when an ingredient is running low.

Example:

  • In Stock: 300
  • Low-stock alert: 50

When the stock reaches the configured level, you will see the low-stock indication.

Step 6: Automatic Sold Out

When the inventory reaches 0, the connected menu item will automatically show as Sold Out on your storefront.

For example:

300 Dimsum → 0 Dimsum

Once there is no inventory remaining, customers will no longer be able to order the connected item.

Example

You have 300 Dimsum in stock, and each order uses 2 Dimsum.

Every order automatically reduces the inventory:

300 → 298 → 296 → 294 → ... → 0

When the inventory reaches 0, the item automatically becomes Sold Out.

Tip: Make sure you enter the correct quantity used for each menu item and size so that your inventory remains accurate.
