How to Add Custom Fields to the Catering Enquiry Form
How to Add Custom Fields to the Catering Enquiry Form
Overview
Custom fields allow restaurant owners to add their own questions to the catering enquiry form. This helps collect event information that is not covered by the standard form fields.
For example, you can add a question about allergies, dietary requirements, or special event instructions.
Where to Find It
- Log in to your restaurant admin dashboard.
- Go to Settings → Catering.
- Scroll to the Custom fields section.

How to Add a Custom Field
- Locate the Custom fields section.
- Click the field labelled Field label (e.g. Allergies).
- Enter the question or label you want guests to see.
Example: Dietary requirements
- Open the field-type dropdown and choose the appropriate option. The screenshot shows Short text as an available type.
- Enable the Required toggle if guests must answer the question.
- Click + Add custom field if you want to create another question.
- Repeat these steps for each additional field.
Choosing a Field Label
Use clear, concise labels so guests understand what information to provide.
Examples:
- Allergies: Ask guests to provide allergy-related information.
- Dietary requirements: Collect dietary preferences or restrictions.
- Event instructions: Collect additional information about the event.
- Special requests: Give guests a way to share other requirements.
These are examples; add only the questions relevant to your catering service.
Choosing Whether a Field Is Required
Each custom field includes a Required toggle.
- Enabled: Guests must provide an answer to that field.
- Disabled: The field is optional.
Make a field required only when the information is necessary for reviewing or preparing the catering enquiry.
How to Remove a Custom Field
The custom field configuration displays a delete icon beside the field.
- Find the custom field you want to remove.
- Click the delete icon.
- Review the remaining fields.
- Save your changes.
If a confirmation prompt appears, follow the on-screen instructions.
Save and Test the Form
- Review all custom field labels.
- Check the selected field types.
- Confirm which fields are required.
- Click Save changes.
- Open the catering storefront and verify that the new questions appear as expected.
Important Notes
- Custom fields are intended for additional questions beyond the standard catering form fields.
- Use meaningful labels rather than vague names such as “Other.”
- Avoid making every custom field mandatory.
- The exact field types available depend on the options shown in your dashboard.
