How to Set Up and Use the Kiosk Link

How to Set Up and Use the Kiosk Link

Overview

The Kiosk Link allows restaurant owners to set up a self-ordering experience on an in-store tablet. Customers can use the device at the restaurant to access the ordering store and place their own orders.

This option is suitable for restaurants with a counter, entrance, or other area where customers can use a dedicated tablet to order.

  1. Log in to your restaurant dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Grow → Publishing.
  3. Scroll to the In your restaurant section.
  4. Locate the Kiosk Link card.
  5. Click Set up kiosk.

The Kiosk Link panel will open and display your kiosk URL, along with options to copy or open it.

How to Open the Kiosk on a Tablet

  1. Open the Kiosk Link panel.
  2. Click Copy to copy the kiosk URL, or click Open to access it directly.
  3. Open the link on the tablet you want to use at your restaurant counter.
  4. Switch the ordering page to full-screen mode.
  5. Position the tablet where customers can easily access it.

The dashboard identifies iPads and Android tablets as suitable devices for this setup.

How to Prepare the Tablet

iPad

  1. Open the kiosk link in the tablet's browser.
  2. Add the page to the Home Screen if required for convenient access.
  3. Open the page and use the available full-screen display options.

Android Tablet

  1. Open the kiosk link in the tablet's browser.
  2. Access the browser's available full-screen or kiosk-mode options.
  3. Keep the ordering page accessible to customers.

The exact steps for enabling full-screen or kiosk mode depend on the device, operating system, and browser.

How the Kiosk Works

  1. Customers approach the tablet.
  2. They browse the restaurant's online menu.
  3. They select items and proceed through the ordering process.
  4. Orders arrive in the Orders section like other orders.

The dashboard notes that kiosk mode hides browser buttons and resets the ordering experience after each order, helping the next customer start fresh.

Where to Place the Kiosk

Consider placing the tablet in one of these locations:

  • Near the restaurant entrance.
  • At a dedicated self-ordering counter.
  • Near the main ordering counter.
  • In an area with sufficient space for customers to browse and complete orders.

Use a stable tablet stand and ensure customers can comfortably interact with the screen.

How to Test the Kiosk

Before making the kiosk available to customers:

  1. Open the kiosk link on the selected tablet.
  2. Confirm that the restaurant's ordering store loads correctly.
  3. Test the ordering flow.
  4. Confirm that a test order appears in the Orders section, using an appropriate test procedure if available.
  5. Check that the kiosk returns to a fresh starting state after an order is completed.

Important Notes

  • Use the Kiosk Link provided in your own dashboard.
  • Keep the tablet charged and connected to a reliable internet connection.
  • Place the tablet securely to prevent accidental movement or damage.
  • Confirm that the ordering page is easy for customers to use.
  • Check that the device's full-screen or kiosk settings work as expected before opening the kiosk to customers.

Summary

The Kiosk Link provides a self-ordering option for in-store tablets. Copy or open the link, prepare a tablet for customer use, and place it at a convenient location so customers can browse the menu and submit orders themselves.
