How to Find and Configure Your Google Analytics Measurement ID

How to Find and Configure Your Google Analytics Measurement ID

Overview

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) helps restaurant owners track traffic to their storefront and website. To enable tracking through the restaurant dashboard, you need the Measurement ID from your Google Analytics property.

Step 1: Log In to Google Analytics

  1. Open Google Analytics.
  2. Sign in with the Google account that manages your website analytics.
  3. Select the correct Google Analytics property for your website.

Step 2: Open Data Streams

  1. Click Admin in the lower-left corner.
  2. Under Data collection and modification, select Data streams.
  3. Select the Web data stream for your website.

If you do not see a Web data stream, you may need to create one for your website before continuing.

Step 3: Find and Copy the Measurement ID

  1. Open the Web stream details page.
  2. Locate the Measurement ID, which appears in the stream details.
  3. Copy the ID. It usually begins with G- followed by letters and numbers.

Example format: G-XXXXXXXXXX

Use the actual Measurement ID from your website's data stream, not the example above.

Step 4: Open Google Analytics Integration

  1. Return to your restaurant dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Settings → Integrations.
  3. Find the Google Analytics integration.
  4. Open its configuration settings.

Step 5: Enter the Tracking ID and Enable Tracking

  1. Enter your copied Measurement ID in the Tracking ID field.
  2. Turn on Enable tracking.
  3. Click Save to apply the configuration.

Enabling tracking allows the Google Analytics tag to be added to your storefront and website.

Step 6: Verify Tracking

  1. Open your storefront or website after saving the settings.
  2. In Google Analytics, open the Realtime report.
  3. Check whether activity appears when you visit the website.

Newly configured tracking may take some time to appear. Google notes that data collection can take up to 30 minutes to begin.

Important Notes

  • Select the Web data stream that belongs to the correct website.
  • You may need the Editor role or higher at the property level to view the Measurement ID.
  • Enter the Measurement ID, not the Stream ID.
  • If tracking data does not appear, confirm that tracking is enabled and that the correct ID was saved.

Quick Checklist

  • Selected the correct property and Web data stream.
  • Copied the Measurement ID beginning with G-.
  • Opened Settings → Integrations → Google Analytics.
  • Entered the ID in the Tracking ID field.
