1. Navigate to **Settings → Taxation**.
2. Click **+ Add Tax Slab**.
3. Enter the tax slab **Name**, such as *GST 5%* or *Standard Food Tax*.
4. Configure the tax rate for each applicable service type:
   * **Delivery**
   * **Pickup**
   * **Dine-in**, displayed as the restaurant's configured dining service name.
5. For each service type, use the **Charge tax** toggle to enable or disable tax.
6. If tax is enabled, enter the required percentage in the **Rate (%)** field. The maximum allowed rate is 100%.
7. Review the **Active** toggle:
   * Enable it to make the tax slab available for assignment to new menu items.
   * Disable it if the slab should not be available for assignment to new items.
8. Click **Create Slab** to save the tax slab.

## How to Manage Existing Tax Slabs

Existing tax slabs appear in the tax slabs list.

The list displays information such as:

* **Slab:** The tax slab name and default indicator, where applicable.
* **Rate:** The configured rates.
* **Applies to:** The service types for which tax is enabled.
* **In use:** The number of menu items using the slab.
* **Actions:** Available options to edit or delete the slab.

|| Click Edit to review or update an existing slab, if editing is available. Use Delete only after reviewing the consequences for menu items assigned to that slab.

## How to Assign a Tax Slab to a Menu Item

After creating and activating a tax slab:

1. Navigate to **Menu**.
2. Open the menu item you want to update.
3. Find the **Tax Category** field.
4. Select the appropriate tax slab.
5. Save the menu item.

The selected tax slab determines the configured tax rate applicable to that item, based on the order's service type.

## Important Notes

* Configure tax rates according to the applicable tax rules for your business.
* Delivery, Pickup, and Dine-in can have different tax rates.
* A service type with tax disabled will not have tax applied through that slab for that service.
* Inactive tax slabs cannot be assigned to new menu items.
* Check the number of items using a slab before modifying or deleting it.
* Verify the tax mode and applicable rates before processing orders.
